On October 18, 2022, during a press release for Ukraine FilmFest, a charity event in Hollywood he founded for President Zelenskyy's UNITED24, Max told reporters:

"Don't think of your contribution merely as a charity, but rather as an investment in freedom and security for the entire civilized world." 

Two months later, on December 21, 2022, President Zelenskyy echoed the very same rhetoric before U.S Congress— "Your money is not charity, it is an investment in global security and democracy."

Reuters, Le Monde and the Los Angeles Times led their coverage with the phrase, with Forbes calling the wording a "communications master-class," and the Atlantic Council credited it with reinforcing bipartisan U.S. support.
